Congratulations!

Congratulations to three of our players that were selected to participate in the 2009 AAU Girls' Junior National Volleyball Championships in Orlando, Florida this summer. Well done Cougars!

Volleyball Required:
Every player is required to have a leather or composite leather volleyball to participate in our summer practices. Please bring a Molten (L2 or NCAA Super Touch Volleyball) or Tachikara (SV-5WSC, SV-5WM, SV-5WS, or SV-5W Gold) ball only. Since we will perform many individual drills during practices, I must stress that no one will be allowed to practice without an appropriate volleyball. Two reliable sources of volleyball supplies are:
GymRats and Midwest.

Nativity Team Summer Camp:
We have scheduled a "Team Summer Camp" opened to girls entering 7th or 8th grade. The camp will be taught by Kevin Reynolds. Coach Reynolds is the Head Volleyball Coach at the Academy of the Holy Names High School and the Associate Director of the Tampa United Volleyball Academy. Coach Reynolds was the 2006 USAV Coach of the Year and has coached at Plant High School and Tampa Catholic High School.

The camp will take place from July 27th to July 30th, from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Tampa United Center, located at 3212 North 40th Street, Tampa.  Click HERE for MapQuest directions to the Tampa United Center.

The cost of the camp is $110.00 per player and membership to AAU is required. If your daughter is planning on attending, please mail me a check, payable to Kevin Reynolds, and include on the check your daughter's AAU number. If you play on any AAU team or have taken any of the Tampa United Clinics you can use the same membership number; otherwise, click HERE for the AAU membership page.

Due to insurance requirements this event requires advanced registration and prepayment. If you have not prepaid and pre-registered, please understand that you cannot participate in this event.

Summer Practices:
Summer practices will start June 23rd and will take place from 7 PM to 9 PM at Sadie Park. Practices will be opened to girls entering 7th or 8th grade that have demonstrated a serious commitment to playing volleyball. Available spaces are limited, so if your daughter is interested in attending please let us know. However, please understand that participating in summer practices does NOT guarantee a position on the team. It is just another way to improve as a player, become better conditioned, and learn a little volleyball along the way.  Please check our
Schedule page for tentative times and dates of our summer practices.

Physical Examination and Sports Permission Forms:

All players are reminded that they must have the Physical Examination and Sports Permission Forms completed and submitted to the School Office in order to tryout or participate in any school sport. Please printout this FORM and be sure to schedule an appointment with your daughter's doctor before the start of the 2009-2010 school year.

What Club Coaches are saying about our players:

"The one player on my team that I am so happy to give this honor would be Shelby. She is what I would call a great team player and athlete. Shelby always has a positive attitude during practice and games, and gives 110%. She never gives up or hangs her head. She encourages other teammates and her teammates love being around her. Shelby has earned a huge pat on the back."

Coach Melissa

"I would like to send some love out to Natalie for her powerful and consistent serving. She has also stepped up in her role as a defensive player, only being called upon to play defense late in the season. She is quickly becoming one of our most consistent players all the way around the court. She plays with confidence and when asked to adjust she makes the adjustment immediately. I am lucky to have many great kids on my team and very lucky to have Natalie as well."

Coach Kevin

Volleyball's popularity continues to climb
Volleyball is the third most popular girls' high school sport in the nation ... and climbing. The most recent survey (2004-05) conducted by the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) found that 386,022 girls play high school volleyball at 14,526 high schools. Over the previous ten seasons, volleyball participation grew by 13.5 percent. By comparison, girls' basketball saw a 6.9% increase over the same period.
